Description:
This is a small, insectivorous mammal widely distributed across South and Southeast Asia, as well as parts of East Africa and the Middle East. It has a compact body, pointed snout, and short, velvety fur that is typically gray or brown. This species is known for its musky odor, which it secretes as a defense mechanism. It is highly adaptable and often found in human habitats, such as homes and agricultural areas. The Asian house shrew feeds on insects, small invertebrates, and occasionally plant matter. It plays a role in controlling pest populations but can also be considered a pest itself in some regions.
