Description:
This is a small bat species widely distributed across Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia. It has brown or grayish fur, a wingspan of about 18–25 cm, and a body length of 3.5–5 cm. This species is highly adaptable and often roosts in buildings, tree hollows, and other urban structures. It is nocturnal and feeds on small flying insects, which it catches using echolocation. The common pipistrelle is one of the most widespread and abundant bat species in its range and plays a significant role in controlling insect populations.
