This is a medium-sized fruit bat found in South and Southeast Asia. It has a dog-like face, large eyes, and brown or grayish fur. This species inhabits caves, forests, and sometimes urban areas, often roosting in large colonies. It is nocturnal and feeds primarily on fruits, nectar, and flowers, playing a key role in pollination and seed dispersal. Unlike many other fruit bats, it uses echolocation to navigate in dark environments. Leschenault’s rousette is highly adaptable and often lives in close proximity to humans.
