Description:

Adults Malabar Blood Snapper are uniformly red or pink, and juveniles have a black band on head and at caudal base. Can grow up to a length of 100 cm. Lives in both coastal, offshore reefs, shallow inshore waters and in deeper waters. Preys on fishes, small amounts of benthic crustaceans, cephalopods and other benthic invertebrates. Highly commercialized for human consumption.
