Rickett’s Big-footed Myotis

Description:
This is a medium-sized bat species found in East Asia, particularly in China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. It is named for its large feet, which are adapted for catching prey on the surface of water. This species has brown or grayish fur and a wingspan of about 25–30 cm. It inhabits forests, wetlands, and rural areas, often roosting in caves, tree hollows, and buildings. It is nocturnal and feeds primarily on aquatic insects, which it catches using echolocation and its specialized feet.
