Description:
A huge, spindle-shaped shark, the snout is conical- shaped, and has large, triangular, saw-edged teeth. The body of this shark is lead-grey to brown or black above, lighter on sides, and white below. Can grow up to a length of 541 cm. Lives on the continental and insular shelves, but also off oceanic islands far from land. Preys on bony fishes, sharks, rays, seals, dolphins, porpoises, sea birds, carrion, squid, octopi, crabs and whales. Used for minor commercialization.
