Description:
It is a bracket epiphyte occurring in and near rainforests. Growing to 90 cm (35 in) tall by 80 cm (31 in) broad, it has heart-shaped sterile fronds 12–45 cm (5–18 in) long.

Family: Polypodiaceae

Description:

Perenial fern, evergreen with a long rhizome. Its sporangia are yellow to brown when mature. It’s an epiphytic fern.

Its natural range is Southeast East Asia, and Central and South of China.

It’s used as a ornamental plant but also in Chinese medicine where it helps with urinary and bronchial infections.

English Name: Close-growing Pyrrosia

Chinese Name: 貼生石韋

Family: Polypodiaceae

Description:

Small evergreen fern growing 5-12cm tall. With a long creeping rhizome, 1mm thick.

Found on tree trunks and rocks across China and Southeast Asia.

Used in treatment of dysentery. The whole plant is also used in treatment against inflammation, to clear away heat and detoxify in the treatment of scrofula.

English Name: Fishtail strap-fern

Chinese Name: 星蕨

Family: Polypodiaceae

Description:

Punctatum refers to the minutely pitted or dotted nature of the lamina. Its rhizome is shortly creeping, 8mm thick.

It mainly occurs int Southeast Asia and from Southern China to India. It’s mostly found in leaf litter and mosses on rocks in forks of trees.

Of its leaf, purgative and enema juices are made. They are also used as a diuretic and to heal wounds.

Description:

Plants 8-29cm tall. Rhizomes creeping, 1,5-2,5mm in diameter.

Spread throughout China, Japan and Korea. Found on tree trunks or rocks on forested slopes.

Recent studies demonstrante a potential anti-inflammatory effect, and also point for the presence of compounds that can possibly prevent liver cancer cell lines.
